Can't Find It

My driver's license.

I was out running errands yesterday and notice my driver's license wasn't in its usual spot in my wallet.  Tore my purse apart....nope, not in there.  Then I started thinking what could have happened to it.  I take it out of my wallet so infrequently.  At 11:30pm, I remembered I took it out when we went to the trampoline park.  I wasn't sure if I needed to show ID because I did all our registration and payment on-line.

I threw out the "used" park tickets a day or two after we went....and I think my license may have still been wrapped up in there.  I am running out of places to look for it, and technically I am driving illegally...so I think I have no choice but to replace it.

We are in the process of moving....and I have to replace my driver's license for a state that I won't be living in soon.  Now there is a huge waste of time and money!

Per the DMV site, you can replace your license at AAA (who knew!)....so that should be faster than going to the DMV.  It is $30 for the replacement, and they need just under a zillion forms of ID (ok, I think it is 4....).  There is a primary list, a secondary list, and then 2 from a residency list.  Since I was born in the US, I don't need the foreign born list.

Luckily, I have easy access to the documents they need.  I am just annoyed with myself that I have to do this.

My key ring tags have been falling off....the grocery store, the library.  I have had them for years and years, and the hole has worn through.  I thought it was a sign!  Well, if that was a sign.....what sign is it that I have to replace my license?

Not a good one.....

  1. Sorry Mysti! That is such a hassle! And, yeah AAA is such a HUGE timesaver for license renewals/replacements. I learned about it ten years ago and haven't looked back! Good luck! =)

  2. You are not really driving illegally. You just to have the number with you and some other form of ID. It sucks though. I hate not knowing where my license is. I do hope you find it soon!

  3. What a pain, to do it and then have to get a new one in a new state. I have done that, though. (by the way, I did NOT know that AAA would handle this. Wow, saves waiting at the DMV.) They always require lots of ID, and I guess AAA can't get around that requirement. One of my kids is 18 and I helped him get a license for the first time at that age, and you should see what they need in that case. It's worse than for under-18 and it's worse for adults replacing a license - I guess because they are an "unknown" to the system.

There was a local news story about someone who was born so long ago she had no birth certificate (that she could find) and lost her SS card long ago, and getting just a SS card, let alone a license, was possible only when brought to light on the news so that some attorney helped, pro bono.

Anyway, in my younger years I left my license on the table at a bar and never saw it again - I guess someone got a nice "fake ID" and I had to go pay for a new one. I'm obviously still irked with myself, LOL.

    1. I will let you know how it works out with AAA. I understand why they need all the documents. I am just glad I know where they all are.

I should have put my license back right away. Stupid fee on my part.

  4. It will be much easier to get a new license with an old one, but what a pain. Just what you need right now....

  5. well that sucks, but so easily done. Mine is a pain to get out of my wallet, so I rarely take mine out.

And no it's not your blog that I read but never comment on, you should know that. I would tell you if you were bloody annoying....LOL

  7. When I went to vote last Fall, I only took my driver's license for ID. I never saw it again. I questioned and searched, emptied my purse several times. One day, with exbf watching I just pulled out my driver's license. Exbf said, "OH, when did you find that?"

    "Just now."

There may be hope your license yet.
