I haven't done one of these in a while. Finding your Bliss is about being thankful for those things in life that recharge your batteries and keep you going when you are feeling blah. It doesn't have to be a major life changing event to anyone else...but if it is making you happy....then Bliss-On my friend!
For me today......
I am co-chairing an event at the kids' school this week. I was able to take off of work today to be there all day. I am so lucky to have a job that allows me this flexibility. I can go to school....be an active participant in PTA....see my kids, and know that they are happy that Mommy is there.
How about you.....what is your Bliss today?

Bliss - August 4, 2010
If you are new to this series....this is the time where I highlight a non-financial item that helps renew my spirit and energies. We all know that life is tough....being in debt makes it that much harder. We all need to take a minute to honor our spirit....
Mine for today.....
I need to post a picture of how my garden bloomed from when I first planted it. I still have a ways to go, but it came out not too shabby.
When we got home from Bossy Boy's therapy appointment, Sassy decided to stop to smell the flowers. Literally. She bent down and lovingly touched the delicate purple blooms. She buried her face in the plant and just soaked it all in. So peaceful....my little hippie dippy nature girl.
And Bossy decided that the rest of his water from his water bottle should go to the plants. He dumped the water onto the plant and said "here you go little plant...it is ok....I know you are thirsty."
I love that my kids love nature and gardening!

Bliss - June 30, 2010
My Bliss for today....kind of an odd one....
Having leftovers for dinner.
I made enough dinner last night (turkey meatloaf, mac/cheese, corn on the cob) so that we could have 2 meals. The kids ate that, and I just had the meatloaf and a salad (remember....I am a Weight Watcher!).
So why is this Bliss??? Because Bossy had therapy tonight, which is traditionally our "stop by the drive thru on our way home" night. We got home and within 10 minutes, I had heated everything up, and we were eating dinner.
It was nice knowing that dinner was already prepared, and that I was saving the $12 at the drive-thru.
How about you? What was your Bliss for today?

My Bliss for today....G-man not only brought me home wonton soup for lunch....he ran BACK to the grocery store to get something easy to make for the kids for dinner tonight since I am on my own. Thanks sweetie!!
What is your Bliss.....the thing that keeps you going today?

Bliss - June 2, 2010
What keeps me going? What is that spark of sanity in an otherwise insane world? Today I have 2 wonderful things to share:
1) Watching my kids sing at their spring concert. Bossy Boy loves music, and he was belting it out like a superstar. Sassy Girl flashed her award winning smile and my heart melted.
Who told them they could grow up???
2) Our family is walking in the Autism Speaks walk in support of Autism research and awareness. Our generous friends and family have come through in spades....and currently, we have raised $1,070!!! We are now part of the VIP group, and it is all thanks to the great people we have in our lives who love and support us.
We are immensely proud!

Finding Your Bliss - May 27, 2010
I am a day late on this one...but if you read my previous post....I was not feeling too great. Plus, my most Blissful moment didn't happen until 10:30pm.
We had some tremendous thunderstorms roll in last night. I do love me a good thunderstorm!! I went to bed, exhausted. I had a freezer pack to snuggle with (it was hot!! And did you know if you place a freezer pack on a pulse point it helps cool your body??), the rain was pounding, and I watched the flashes of lightning and the rumble and BOOM of the thunder.
I couldn't have asked for a better way to end the day.
How about you.....any Bliss you would like to share???

Finding Your Bliss - May 19, 2010
Another Wednesday is upon us....time to be thankful for those things that keep us going. The shining star in the gloom and doom.
Mine today....is going to sound silly....but....it is sitting here right now. I am totally ready for work, the kids are on the bus on their way to school. I am drinking my second cup of coffee and reading a few blogs before I head out the door. Having a few quiet minutes to myself.....worth sooooo much!!

Finding your Bliss - May 12, 2010
For those of you who are new to my blog....Wednesday is all about finding your Bliss. Finding that one thing in your day that renews your spirit and energies....gives you the uplifting feeling to keep on truckin'. This blog is about debt, but it is also about finding purpose. You can get out of debt, but if you have nothing to live for....then why bother?? If you go through the archives, you will see that most of my Wednesdays have been less than uplifting. But I did have a great evening, and that is my Bliss for today.
Bossy Boy's occupational therapist let us borrow a cooperative game to try this week. The premise of the game is that all players have to work together as a team to accomplish something. It isn't about the individual. Team spirit all the way.
This particular game is called Orchard. Basically, you have to save the fruit from the Raven. If you do, the team wins! If you roll "raven" too many times....the Raven wins. Well, after both kids did a great job on their list of things to do (including dinner, homework, cleaning up, and jammies), we played a few riveting games. Team Mysti and Kids won!!! Yeah us!!!!!
Playing a board game with my kids.....that was my Bliss for today.

Finding your Bliss Wednesday
This series was designed to help us find those things that keep us going when times are rough. Even in our darkest hour, there is always a glimmer of hope. Something that shines just a shade brighter than the rest. That thing that renews your spirit and energy.
Well Universe....you got me. I am finding it hard today to find this. The past 18 hours have sucked, and finding a silver lining, a positive, whatever it is that I am looking for....you have apparently buried it in Middle Earth and only a Hobbit or Gollum will be able to find it.
If something changes later today....I will update. For now.....I will have to find Bliss another day. How about you.....what is your bliss???

Finding Your Bliss Wednesday
Mine is straightforward today.....I took a walk!
As soon as I got home from work, I put on yoga pants and my sneakers. No passing go, no collecting $200. While I did think about NOT going for a second...I grabbed my phone and left. I walked for 22 minutes....wanted to make sure I was home before the wee people.
It was beautiful out, and I feel good that I got my tush up and out. I am "training" for a 5k in early June (just walking...no running). Taking that first step (no pun intended) cemented that I am important too.
So...what did you do today to renew your energy?

Finding Your Bliss - Week 3
As I stated last week....I must have picked the wrong day of the week to do this...because things seem to go to pot between Tuesday night and Wednesday....destroying my bliss.
My bliss for today....come heck or high water....is taking care of ME. I am back on the Weight Watchers bandwagon...doing what I am supposed to in order to see results. I am worth it.
How about you....what are you doing to renew your energies today????

Finding Your Bliss Wednesdays - Week 2
This is all about finding something that recharges your battery....keeps you going in the tough times.....the thing that brings a smile to your face even in the darkest time.
Apparently I picked the wrong day of the week for this. It seems that Wednesdays are the day that the proverbial fecal matter hits the spinning air conditioning unit. In the ole Mysti house...this happened last night and I am still dealing with my blood boiling over it. But that is another post.
So I invite you to come back today and share your Bliss moment of the day. We all have them.....we just have to see it.
ETA: My bliss of the day....a large iced coffee. Yumm-o. Sometimes a girl just needs a little caffeine pick me up.

Finding Your Bliss Wednesdays
New series folks....
Finding Your Bliss is all about finding something in your day that renews your energy, lifts your spirits, makes you feel all warm and gooshy inside. Finding that one thing in your day that keeps you going. Those of us on a debt free journey can get discouraged and feel like there is NOTHING good in our lives while this debt is a noose around our necks.
But c'mon people....aren't we all a bit mellow dramatic? I know I am. When I lament about how crappy it all is and nothing is right and I whine and cry about all I don't have (which I realize is alot....I re-read some old posts, and why didn't someone tell me what a cry-baby I am???????), there is ALWAYS something that is good. ALWAYS.
Just like Good, Bad, Ugly....this is subjective. My Bliss is not going to be your Bliss. If cuddling your pet boa constrictor gives you Bliss....go for it (but for me....I shudder and cringe at this thought...but I am not a reptile kind of gal).
So think about Your Bliss for today...it is still early in the day, so come back tonight and let me know what you discovered today!
ETA: So, it is 7:05pm, and boy have I had a day! Finding my bliss today is a challenge. The ironic thing is that I was writing this post this morning when my day started to take the turn for the worse.
My Bliss for today: Watching my son eat his entire sandwich for dinner. For a child with a feeding tube, this is a huge accomplishment, and I am so proud of him. I know that the energy we are spending working on it, and the extra occupational therapy sessions are well worth the money. Good job Bossy Boy!!! Mommy is so proud of you, and I love you whole big bunches!
