CC 2 -$3,095.59
Way back in the day, we had balances on 4 CC. The one we used for the move was CC 2....so I just went back to that, in case anyone was wondering why this is card 2.
This is the remainder of Moving expenses, plus a $40 charge (virus protection for computer) that we forgot was an auto debit thing once a year. The auto debit has since been removed. We will be filing our tax return very soon, and the refund will be put here, and hopefully wipe most of this out. Once we see how much is gone after the tax return, then I will figure out what I have to pay per month to get this take care of, hopefully within 6 months.
If you are looking at this on a monitor and not a phone, you will see that shuffled things a bit on the side bar. The move related expenses are in their own category. Mental game. So while this is technically "consumer" debt, I am calling it something else.
CC 4 -$14,932.62
Yep....it is up. WAY up. It was used to be able free up cash that we needed. Particularly in November, when we paid $1900 in rent deposits, in addition to our mortgage. Plus, the living on less income finally caught up by the fall and we used the card for gas, groceries, household goods (TP, cat food, etc). Some back to school things. And here we are. In all of its
While I am not working, we are paying the minimums on everything. However, this card minimum is up to $291. It makes my stomach lurch a little. I am thinking of doing a balance transfer to another card, 4% fee, but is zero interest for 18 month. This will allow us to at least make the minimum payments easier until I am working, then go back to really trying to lower things. I can't use the card if I do this...it will just negate everything. I have already done that once. Stupid.
If we took our credit card and the house stuff out of the equation, G-man's salary would cover our expenses, even without me working. The debt is really causing a problem now that our income has been slashed for the moment.
The sidebar is updated through February 15th. However, my student loan, house loan, and G-man's car have not been paid for the month of February yet. That will amount to almost $800 in payments. I am going to try to update on the 1st of the month again, like I used to. It really forced me to look at the numbers. But I know alot of people were wondering what the numbers really look like.....so here ya go.
I have an interview tomorrow...for selling insurance (which I know nothing about). I have to bring home SOMETHING at this point, so even if this turn into an offer....I will keep looking. I need a win right now. I really need a win.
I know this is probably not the kind of job you want but what about like a Target or Kohls till something else comes up? You have your education but to keep money coming in that might be easier with all the changes to your family and I think they only work part-time. Good luck in whatever you decide. Cheryl
ReplyDeleteWe agreed if by the end of the month I didn't have an offer, then I would start applying at stores. No idea how it will work since my availability now is open, but I still need to be able to interview. And of course, once I am working full time, that job will go.
DeleteFingers crossed you find something quickly.
ReplyDelete50 resumes and counting...
DeleteBest of luck with your job hunt. You are bright and educated. Something will work out. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks
DeleteYikes! is the 14k your Discover? hmmmm... what about using the tax refund to pay off the cars? whatever is left send it to the smaller card, that should free up a couple of payments and boost your debt esteem. I see the overall debt at 62K, if you can live on gman's income then whatever you make just send to debt for a year... that should bring you down fast, I know I know easier said than done lol
ReplyDeleteYes, it is Discover. The tax return was going to pay off CC2, but we could pay off cars and free up cash.
DeleteAnd yes, the plan for my income was to use it partly to round out our sinking funds, and the rest to debt. If you take out the moving stuff....we are pretty close to where we were 6 months ago
I can relate to the Discover card situation.
DeleteGood luck on the job hunt!
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteA lot of insurance jobs are just commission so be careful about accepting that as a lot of ppl end up putting in lots of hours for almost no pay unless you are good at selling! Praying you find something in your field quick!
ReplyDeleteExactly. G-man and I talked about if it was commission based, and basically it would come down to the base salary if I took this as a just for now job. Honestly, I am using this more as practice for interviewing.
DeleteRemember, you are together and that is worth the price. You will find a job. Don't worry, okay that was dumb, worry but you will find a job.
