Sassy's first job

Our neighborhood has a TON of stray cats.  Like, at least 8.  There are 2 groups of them; one group came after an elderly neighbor hurt himself and ended up in assisted living and the cats were just abandoned.  The other group (we think) also came from abandonment (another neighbor just up and left.....)  Several neighbors have started feeding the strays, so they aren't going hungry.  The cats won't let anyone close enough to touch them, but they are doing ok.

Our neighbor came over on Sunday to ask Sassy if she would be willing to feed her "outside" animals (stray cats and the squirrels) while they are gone (her mom hurt herself, and they were going out of town unexpectedly).

Sassy wrote down the "schedule" and the neighbor provided her with all the necessary food.    She needs to go over 2x a day to feed the cats and feed the squirrels (a few scoops of sunflower seeds) in the morning.  And she needs to check the pans for left over food at night so that the raccoons don't get it.

I went with her this morning, so she can get a feel for it.  She will be on her own now (other than the night time check...I will go with her then since it is dark). She needs to feed the animals today through Wednesday morning, and our neighbor will pay her $10.  Sassy is thrilled!

Who knows....maybe she can start her own little business.  :)

  2. Merry Christmas to you! My first job was watering a neighbor's garden & feeding their animals. A great choice. :-)

  3. That's so cool! If you lived closer to me I would pay her to watch my golden retriever, $20 per day!
