It is going to be a better day, right?

Happy Thursday!

Today is GOING to be better than the past 3 days....because I have no more patience for cruddy days!

My car needed a front end alignment from where I skidded on the ice and crashed into the curb.  We also had the oil changed (over due!), and out the door was $201.  We had $350 in the car maintenance account, so *wiping brow* no new debt or dipping into EF.  We still need to get G-man a new tire from his blow out a few weeks ago, and my tires still need to be looked at for the leaking (the shop didn't have time yesterday for everything).  We already know the car fund will be empty very soon.

I need to call Target.com because they screwed up an order (long story).  The current problem, which is probably Problem #5 I have to talk to them about, is they charged my entire order to my debit card because they screwed up my Gift Card.  I am NEVER using the in-store pick up feature again....

I got a coupon in my e-mail for $10 off Turbo Tax at Target (and other participating dealers) and Target is offering a $5 GC for the purchase.  So once I get the gift card/debit card problem solved....we will head to Target and get Turbo Tax.  If you count the GC (which I will use toward my purchase if they let me, but I am guessing not), the final price of the software will be about $35.  Then I hope to have the taxes done by the end of the weekend.

My BFF called me regarding her trip to London that I posted about a few weeks ago.  She found out she is required to pay the taxes on the tickets, which will be $1600.  And then of course, hotel, food, spending.  She asked me what I thought.....and prefaced it with "I am not going to like it, am I?"  So I told her I didn't think she should go.  We talked about it for a good hour.  I know she is going to go.  I just told her that she will have to live with the decisions she makes about it all.  And if that means she puts $3000 on a CC, then she has to accept it and know this was a CHOICE.  This vacation is not a NEED in any sense of the word.  She has a month to decide.

OK, off to get ready for work.....please send me good day vibes!

  1. Have you enter tried taxact? It's about $15 for federal and state, and the filing fees are lower as well.

    1. I tried TaxAct several years ago and didn't care for it. I had a hard time using it, and in the end the fees ended up being the same as Turbo Tax. I am not sure if it is all about what you get used to, but it just didn't work well for me.

    1. What did you decide to do about the car situation?

I tried taxact.com and it didn't work for me! I couldn't follow it, it calculated a lower refund, and there were fees for both my federal and state filing. No thanks...it just doesn't work for me!

    2. Car, no decision yet, waiting to see the new 2015 TAHOE's... baby still has 2 months to arrive so we can wait at least 3-4 months... thinking something new and cheaper might be better ?

    3. As long as it is reliable, meets your needs, and you can comfortably afford it....then go for it!

  4. Oh wow, alighnment and an oil change cost $200?! I was thinking about taking my car in for an alignment, since it seems to be veering off to the left a little bit, but I had no idea it would cost that much! I also took my car in for air leaks on my tire, but they said they couldnt find anything wrong with it. Guess that's good? Even though they saw it deflated the previous day. I too use TurboTax, but sometimes I can get mine done free because I make less than $51k and some programs will run specials for free federal/state filings.

    1. I guess it is perspective. To me, $200 was way cheaper than I was preparing myself for, so I was happy! Maybe you just need your tire balanced??

We are over the 51k mark, so no free tax stuff for us.

    2. Maybe it's just me, but $200 seems a tad high for just the two services? A very large, well-respected dealership in my area charges $187 for a tire rotation, balance, alignment, AND oil change (I have an SUV). Then again I suppose it could be related to the location you all live in :)

  5. I am going to take your tack and just have a great day, I am with you on the blah days. She has to pay $1600 in taxes doesn't sound like a free trip to me.

    1. I hope you and the chickens are having a Cluck Cluck Wonderful day!

My BF is going to do what she is going to do. She knows they can't afford this. But she is justifying it any way she can. She leaves for Mexico a week from Saturday....
