Quick check in from Mom's

First off....the kids did awesome on the plane!  I think we have flyers on our hands.

We have been here just under 48 hrs.   Neither of my parents have given me a hug.  My mom has been out of her room less than 2 hrs since we arrived.  I lost count of the critical comments I have heard...varying from my hair to what I feed my kids.

I have kept my cool....but it has been hard.

More to come....but just checking in.

  1. Keep calm and remember you will be leaving But maybe you need to think of this as your last attempt, after all do you need to feel this way? You are a wonderful mother and nothing like the little bit you have told us about yours.

One can only try so many times

    1. This is the last attempt....I decided that before we arrived. At this point it is self preservation.

Thanks for thinking I am a great mom....that means a lot to me coming from someone who I think is a terrific mom.

  2. Breathe. Just breathe. Trust us, it will be over soon enough. It is terrible to be under such scrutinity and rudeness from people who are supposed to love you (I'm under it every time I'm at my parents' house, from my mother, so maybe I've gotten used to it?). You're not there permanently. And it could be the last time you repeat this trip. So just bite your lower lip and carry on; don't let them ruin this. Once you get back home, we'll all still be here for you if you want to vent. Stay strong!

  4. That must be so hard! I'm glad the kiddos did well on the plane. Hang in there.

  5. Just repeat this mantra: "Nothing they say is true. I feel pity that they can't see the beauty in people and life. Glad I didn't turn out the same." Now, go hug a kid (or Husband) and tell them how great they are (or pet a cat/dog if previous is not available).

  6. I agree with the others. How much longer do you have with them? Don't the kids think it's strange that Granny hasn't come out of her room?

  7. You can do this. Remember that your kids are watching, they are not old enough to see what your parents are doping but old enough to judge your reactions and this is what makes you a good Mom.
