The hurricane is a-comin'!!! Just what we needed....a hurricane during one of the busiest weeks of the year for me....I have the kids' birthday, THREE PTA events, and finishing getting ready for the first day of school. The timing is impeccible. Today is beautiful out....by tomorrow, it will all go downhill.
I have no idea if I will have power for a few days...but I have a few posts lined up.
This hurricane is already costing us some mega money. We are stocking up on water, non-perishable foods, and propane for the grill. None of this was part of the August budget. My parents are OVERNIGHTING us batteries. *sigh* Oh, and G-man bought a ton of beer. Again, not part of the budget.
OK...is it just "a little" bad that I kind of want the windows to break, so I can get new ones, and homeowner's insurance will pay for it????
On the bright side...I don't think we will be going out to buy the oh so tempting furniture I was looking at. Does that count as "saving?"
I will check in from "Storm-pocylpse" when I can!!! Yes...that is what they are calling this. *sigh*
Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteHang in there... Just another one of Mother Nature's little surprises. And no, it's not bad of you re: the windows. I flooded our master bathroom totally on accident last week and am now excited re: new flooring, etc.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and be safe. I've been through too many of these. I hear she's weakening though so that's good news! Hope it keeps doing more of that.
ReplyDeleteAt least you have a warning! I live in earthquake country (Los Angeles)and I must always be prepared. I remember being in a hurricane when I lived New Jersey. Stay away from trees, we lost a big one. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteWe got a lot of beer and wine too. hehe. A few tips my fther in law told me. If you freez water in old milk jugs you can use them in the fridge to keep the food cold if the power goes out. Its like a big block of ice. Also fill up the bathtub with water to use to flush the toilet. Be Safe!
ReplyDeleteI pray that this passes over or diminishes.
ReplyDeleteBeer! the first thing to sell out of stores during hurricane Ike a couple of years ago down here... what else can you do if yo have to sit at home for days LOL
ReplyDeleteHS
well you'll have the important things - beer and birthday cakes lol! hope it all goes OK for you, take care.
ReplyDeleteHope it's not as bad as predicted, but you seem well prepared. Losing power sucks, but it's always better in the summer (unless you have a full freezer and can't stick the frozen goods in the snow!).
ReplyDeleteStay safe!
It's Saturday morning and no rain yet. I guess that's good?
ReplyDeleteStay safe, and I hope you don't lose windows or power..!
