Two days in a row!

My kids are on yet another snow day....I think we are at 7 or 8 now.  I lost count.

Yesterday my boss told me not to come in to work (this was of course AFTER I was sitting in my car waiting for it to warm up).  I called out today because the kids are home.  Today is payday (we get real checks, no direct deposit), so no payday for me today....will have to wait until tomorrow.

I am trying to not stress about the money.  Both not having my paycheck today, and missing 2 days of work (and 1 next week that is scheduled, and who knows about the week after).  In addition to trying to stay positive....why am I not stressing???

Because 1) G-man got an extra week of pay at his part time job this week (probably left over vacation pay), and 2) we got $330 back from the attorney that did our closing in over charges!

The overcharges worry me just a tad.  I just don't want them to find out they made a mistake and want the money back.  So I am not cashing the checks until I am sure.

The extra week of pay that G-man got will make up for my not working, so that is pretty much a wash.  I will get my paycheck tomorrow, and we will be ok until then.  I am just itching to start paying stuff off, and I won't do it until I am sure all the ducks are in a row.  Then KABLAM!  My debt number will change by roughly $2500, in addition to the regular stuff.  Yeah us!!!!

  1. Wow, that's a lot of snow days! Do the kids have to make them up at the end of the year?

I hear you about not getting paid. When I can't get to work, I don't get paid. When you count on a certain number for a paycheck, it's hard. Glad hubby got some extra pay...

You'll get that debt down, look at how far you've come already?? AMAZING! :)!

  2. @Sharon - yes the kids have to make it up. Most of the parents want them to cut out the February break they are supposed to have in 2 weeks (c'mon, they haven't had a full week of school since mid December, do they REALLY need vacation???), but most likely they will tack them on at the end of the year.

I have been stuck at 10-11% of debt paid forever....wanna break into the 15% mark!!

  3. I hear you on those front. I work at a school and we have no school today as well. We are up to 2 days to make up so far. We try to make them up on holidays, such as president's day, the monday after easter, etc.
I have also missed 2 days of work this week due to snow days and ice, etc.

That sucks about your pay not being direct deposited. This is the first job I have that does direct deposit and I love it, since our closest bank branch is about 45 minutes away.

Hang in there and great job on paying the debt down. Some is better than none!

  4. The kids are probably enjoying the time off, but won't like it at the end of the year, will they? Congrats on the hard work on your budget.

  5. I don't have direct deposit at my work either and I HATE that!

Hopefully you can work tomorrow so you can get the check.

  6. @Rachel - our schools are refusing to take away vacation days. I think we are up to 8 or 9 snow days to make up.

@Rhitter - thank you....but I didn't earn it. A refi (even a stressful one) still added to our overall debt load.

@Ruth - I think the kids are bored. And Bossy soooo needs his routine. We are all off.

@L - No work for me today.....maybe someday....
