Apparently my children are never going back to school....

Day 3 this week of a snow day.  Part of me says, why bother sending them tomorrow????  Just call the week a wash and try again next week.  Bossy is all out of sorts.  His lack of routine has caught up with him, and he is just all kinds of nasty.

Meanwhile, I am going to be out 3 days of pay.  Plus my paycheck is probably sitting on my desk.

I need to talk to my boss about this.  One thing about the storm....most likely the other employees aren't working, so I doubt there is much work being generated.  There is the huge back burner project, plus we have a staff meeting coming up that there will be prep work for.  So I wouldn't be sitting around.

I can't work tomorrow due to other obligations (unless we are able to move some things around with bookfair).  I might try and go in over the weekend, and drag my poor kids with me. Not the ideal situation any which way you slice it.

As much as I have been so excited about our money back from our refi, I will have to temper it with how much I am losing in pay.  Some of it may have to go to supplement my pay, or lack of pay.  I am fortunate that we have a little extra in the savings account that we didn't need for the closing, so that will go towards the bills that I need to pay today.

Plus, we are out of ice melt (who would have thought that 50 lbs wouldn't last us more than a week!!!).  So we have to get more of that.

All of this bites.

  1. I found your blog on Musings from a Midlife Wife's blog and thought I'd drop by.

We just had 18 inches of snow dropped on us from Monday morning until Wednesday afternoon. I totally feel for you about the ice melt.

I'm a new follower of your blog. :)

  3. I am sorry about the whole loss of work thing. I think when the goverment does stuff for "disasters" compensation for lost work should be one of them.

  4. Seems to me that if snow days happen where you live that your employer would have direct deposit as a courtesy. Not being able to deposit your paycheck for three days because you can't get to work doesn't seem right or fair.

  5. It's terrible that you don't get paid for days when the weather stops you getting to work! Hope the situation resolves soon for you.

  6. @Ruth - I agree.

@L - my boss doesn't believe in direct deposit. Actually, until last year, he hand wrote our paychecks. We have about 20 employees, and he said he doesn't want to pay for direct deposit.

@Louise - I am a part time employee, so no paid time off. I get alot of perks, so it isn't that bad. I will say that next payperiod will stink though!
