Bonus, Baby!

I was surprised at work today with a $160 cash bonus.   Yea me!

There is a long, complicated story behind it, and no one but my boss and I really could care.  The short version:  We received a check at work (which I put alot of time into getting) for $1600, and my boss gave me the 10% he normally would keep.

Like I said, there is way more to it, but I won't bore you.

So, what to do with it????  Part of me says "pay down debt."  Considering we are 68k in debt, this would be an excellent use of funds.  Part of me is still coveting the bookcase from this past spring and summer.  *sigh*  Part of me says save it for something else.

Right now, I am leaning towards $100 to debt (which will help me finish my snowball a few weeks faster), and $60 into the "save for XYZ fund."

I am great at knowing what to do with G-man's bonus money.....mine....not so much.  He is of no help.  He said do what I want.

 Thoughts?????

  1. I like splitting it up.
100 to debt, 60 for whatever you want!

  4. Yes, congrats on your bonus! It's always nice to receive unexpected money. My vote is to put it all towards your debt. I know $160 doesn't seem like alot, but really every single penny adds up.

  5. Way to go, Mysti! I guess you gave up the chance to spend it on sale clothes at Old Navy. :-) I tend to split found money like this 60/40 to savings or debt and fun. The bookcase would be a wonderful thing to splurge on. Or you could save part of it for something fun -- maybe earmark it for a birthday celebration, or save it in case a gift pops up later in the year? Or send it to me and I'll spend it on my puppy. Ha!
