And we are off

After many tears last night, dealing with a temporarily broken TV at the hotel, and alot of anxiety on the part of the adults.....we are ready to head out.

Goodbye Connecticut.  Hello new life.

UPDATE 12:3pm - been raining since we left.  We are in PA now....getting lunch.  The movers called and the estimate they gave us was way off.  Like, 2000 lbs off.  Which is almost $1000.  Bossy's DVD player stopped working, so we have to see what we can do about that while we are stopped.  White kitty has not been a good traveler....we let her out of her carrier and she settled down.  But we have to grab her when we have a toll.

Long way to go.

  1. Aw, I hope you didn't have any really bad anxiety. It's going to be great! Enjoy the adventure.

It just struck me, I wonder if you're going to be complaining about the southerners. LOL, well, at least we'll have something to read about. Southerners find northerners to be odd in their manner, too, you should know. Ha ha, maybe everyone will get along great and there will be no issues.

  2. Good luck. I found when my dh worked in South Carolina, the people were very friendly. Being together will make most things bearable and you will adjust I am sure. Cheryl

  3. Aww, Mysti! I was a little sad myself when I saw your empty Connecticut house pictures. When we sold our first house, I was like "good riddance" ... but we never lived there with kids, were never really involved in our community and were nothing but excited to moving on to a new town and a new phase of our life. When we sold our last house, I sobbed ... all the family memories and plans we had for that place. I was just so upset.

I hope you have a safe & smooth road trip!

  12. Don't ask for pop; ask for soda. Don't say a grocery bag; say a sack. Don't say a grocery cart, say a buggy. Maybe not that last one. You can also say "yonder" for "over there," and of course "y'all."

You don't have to say all those things if you don't want, but be prepared for people to snicker about your yank accent. (Do you say, "It gets dock so early this time of year. I don't like the early dockness."?)

LOL, I hope it's not that bad.
