A final 2015 post

I hope everyone had a good holiday season this month.  Christmas was quiet here.  As expected, the initial enthusiasm from the kids was low key.  Actually, we got a bigger reaction from Sassy about her books than the lap top.  Bossy just wanted to open stuff and didn't really look at anything.

However, they both have been practically living on their new computers!  We are having to set rules on screen time for the first time.  I am glad they are having fun. We did end up getting them 2 more small things to round out the tree, and of course they had their stocking  (I still don't have the hang of getting stuff for the stocking...spent too much!).

New Year's Eve is always low key here.  Snack food for dinner and movies.  Bossy has never made it until midnight....I think 10:30 is his record.  Sassy will generally make it and then is asleep within a minute.

G-man is participating in a fishing tournament tomorrow and is leaving at 6am.  The kids and I will be just doing house stuff.....my parents are supposed to come for dinner on Saturday....we will see if they show up.

I am also going to work on a few posts about our move and how the money worked out.  I also want to figure out a two part plan for the year....part one is while I am not working full time, and part two is once I am working again.

2015 brought huge change for us.  2016 will be the year of adjustment to those changes.  I am looking forward to getting a handle on things again....I don't fly by the seat of my pants very well.

Happy New Year everyone!

  1. Do your parents make a habit of not showing up when they agree to an engagement? Do they at least call to decline? (I thought my family of origin had the corner on that part bit of hurtfulness...always backing out last minute.) Glad the kids enjoyed Christmas. I eagerly await your first "Wow, it's 28 degrees up here, and we're wearing shorts down here," post. I used to call my NE friends with weather reports in March! Hope school goes better for your girl.

    1. They tend to call at the time they are supposed to arrive somewhere and say they aren't coming...usually because they aren't having a good day (aka, they don't feel well.....which is everyday). Several years ago they were supposed to come for Thanksgiving and cancelled less than 24 hrs before their flight. They didn't understand what I was upset about. They had promised the kids all sorts of stuff...and I had to be the bad guy and tell them it was all cancelled. PLUS...they argued with the airline to get a refund and eventually the airline gave them 2 tickets to use by X date. Then they didn't use the tickets and called again and wanted an extension....because it is all about THEM.

Weather....my BFF sent me pictures of her snow. I told her we had the A/C on because it was so muggy. Lol

I will update on school and such soon. Thanks for asking.

  2. Glad to hear that the kids are enjoying the computers and it is smart that you set limits and boundaries on them. Good luck to your planning. I'm in the midst of doing that as well.
