The swirl...oh the swirl.....

The past 48 hrs have just been a blur of chaos and drama.  Sorry I didn't check in.  I haven't been reading either, so MAYBE I will have some time later to catch up with you all. I am not even going to drone on about the drama.  Suffice it to say that it isn't over.  But it has inhabited a great deal of my physical and mental energy.

Bossy's room....we can see the light at the end of the tunnel!  His ceiling is ALMOST ready for paint.  This has to happen in the next 2 days, as the carpet is coming Friday morning.  I refuse to chance getting paint on the brand new carpet.  Unfortunately, I think I am going to have to be the one to do it!  G-man had to be at work at 5:30am, and won't be home until 11pm tonight.  Not a whole lot of painting time in there. I am just looking forward to putting it all back together, and getting rid of the visual clutter.  And not listening to fighting children at bedtime.

My parents arrive next Tuesday.  For the first time, I just don't care and don't have the energy to go hog wild for this.  It is going to be what it is going to be.  Let them criticize all they like.  I am just going to say "I am sorry you feel that way."  It makes me sad that they can't just come to visit....they have to pick me apart.  My house, my weight....I will hear it.

The money....squeaky tight.  A few unplanned expenses (field trip money...$40 for us (chaperoned) and kids; dinner out on Sunday that should have been about $20, and was closer to $40 (change in location; it was for a meeting).  Father's Day gifts were ordered (minus my dad....gotta figure that out).  And we STILL need to go grocery shopping.

On the flip side, we have almost $1,400 in our overtime account (we used a small amount on Bossy's room, and I still owe the account $161).  With this week's overtime, it should be about $1,700 at the end of June.  We agreed that he will take $100 towards getting new shoes (I swear, he is so hard on shoes), and I will take $50 towards "whatever".   G-man and I are disagreeing a little on what to do with the rest (figure it will be in the $1500 range).  He wants to pay off the credit card, and whatever is left will go to another debt (doesn't care where).

I want to use it to completely pay off the dentists (which will include my crown that will be placed in a few week...had the temporary one put on last week....and it fell off.  *sigh*)  Or possibly save it for the moment, and use it for upcoming medical expenses that we know are coming.

Both are going to the greater good.  Just two different approaches.

Hope I have something more interesting to share at some point!

  1. Hope things settle down for you soon! :) I'd put the $$ towards debt that is owed now... No point waiting till you have more expenses/debt when you have debts that need paid of sooner than later Kwim?

    1. I guess because I know that the medical expenses are coming, it would be like saving up for them. We can pay current debt...and in 2 months, we will just add new debt. KWIM?

  2. Sounds like a ton going on for you, I hope that is calms down soon or that you at least find little islands of calm within it. Good luck and positive thoughts winging your way!

  3. I'm sorry you're visit with your parents sounds like it will be h*ll!! Please don't let them get to you. Lately my dad has been getting rude with his comments to me (my weight mainly, even though I have lost 24 of the 38 lbs I gained with my last pregnancy) and frankly if he continues I will stop seeing him. I don't have the tolerance to let someone put me down no matter who you are.
As for the debt can you do both? I did the math based on what's posted and you could pay off both dentists and still have a little over $800 to put towards the CCs.

    1. My crown will be $800 (scheduled for early July). So if you re-do the math, the dental bills will be $1,453...which is all of the money.

  4. I'm with you on the dentist payoff. A dentist is a small business owner and generally a member of your community. I think it is important to keep that bill as current as you can.

    1. I will say this about the dentist (adult), they aren't hurting for money. ;) But the office has done a great job of working with us, so I feel like I should zero out the balance (at least until the next check-up!)

  5. Yikes, you must have really bad dental coverage. i too am paying the dentists all I have. I know the room will be beautiful. It will be worth it. Maybe your folks will spring for the art work? Okay I am dreaming for you.....

    1. Our dental coverage is a joke. We don't pay for it separately (it is part of our medical insurance package). But it covers nothing...not even cleanings.

I hinted about my parents helping with the room....it was ignored.

    1. We may do a combination. It is just we have found if we focus the effort in one spot, it seems to "work" better.

  7. Mysti,

Pay the credit card because the dentist can't charge you interest. You will be able to pay him down faster once you get the credit card paid off with the added benefit of not adding interest to the debt every month. If you feel like you need to pay him something, make a small $100 payment.
