PANIC!!

Don't tell me not to panic....this is a crisis!  PANIC!!!!!!

We bought the kids netbooks as their Santa gift this year.  Got them from 1saleaday.  Well, they don't support Flash Player.  So the kids wouldn't be able to play games on them.  Which was the whole purpose of getting them.

PLUS...we can't return them.  (We will probably sell them ourselves to recoup the money).

But now we don't have a Santa gift for the kids!!!  They don't want anything!!!  They aren't into anything!!!

CRAAAAAP!!!!!!  And Christmas is in less than 2 weeks!!!

So now what?????

  2. What brand are they? if they are using Windows or even Linux they should be able to run Flash, the only devices not supporting Flash are iPads and iPhones...

Google is selling Chromebooks for $350, these may be good for kids, more secure OS and they should run apps like Angry Birds and Flash...

Is this really a panic?! lol to me a panic is the house is on fire! no roof etc

    Good luck

  3. @Michelle - thanks

@HS - yes this is a panic. When you have 9 year olds and no real gift for them...it is a panic. They are Sylvania, and the guy AT Sylvania said that Flash won't run...it isn't compatible.

Chromebook isn't an option. That is way out of the budget.

  4. Ok this is an EMERGENCY and you have an EMERGENCY fund :) So take the hit on the ef and go get the kids the tablets that will support everything. Then sell the ones you have. Yes you may loose some money but hopefully not to much.

Deep cleaning breaths. It is ok.

  6. It will be ok Mysti! Check the local stores that have them in stock and make sure you get what you need. After the New Year you can list them and sell them don't even think about it now. It will work out.

Emergencies come in all forms and with kids I consider this an emergency. Let me know how it turns out

  7. Oh no! I hope everything works out. Have you checked out overstock.com? My husband orders from them all the time and never has any problems. Good luck!

  8. That sucks... :/ I can't believe they won't take them back... that's horrible customer service! I'd do your research first this time so you're not wasting money again though... Hope you can figure something out! Good luck!

  9. At least you found out before Christmas morning, when they couldn't use them to play games. Now, you will have time to get something to replace them. Sorry you aren't able to send them back.

  11. Ok WAIT. I wouldn't return them. Flash is being phased out anyways. Can you guys fire one up for a test run? Do they run on Android? And actually are you SURE they don't run Flash? I just found a review on the Sylvania Netbook that says the ONLY thing it's good for is flash games LOL

  12. @MSM - We can get them to connect to the internet. But if we go to a game site they like, it doesn't work. Maybe the sites we go to need a higher version.

Part of the reason we got these netbooks was just to have a basic machine for the kids...we weren't trying to have a super duper machine!!!!
