Wonderful parents who organized events at the school and ran it beautifully. Then the province changed how this system ran and pretty much all of what you are speaking of 'does not fall under the mandate of the new organization'. All those things like Bake Sales, Book Fairs, lunches, fundraisers have fallen on the shoulders of the classroom teachers. With the exception of a tiny handful of amazing parents/grandparents, very few parents volunteer to help out anymore and feel it is the school's job. They fail to realize that most of these things are for 'extras' for their children, and not part of the provincial curriculum for their child. It's sad, really. May I say, as a teacher, I sure do appreciate all that you folks are doing for your children.Joliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05031816661748376856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8465887551310827456.post-14948255721882359042011-01-07T10:04:51.422-05:002011-01-07T10:04:51.422-05:00I've had the same ephiphany with our band boos...I've had the same ephiphany with our band boosters. I'm the treasurer and am appalled at how the money is spent. It's a complete MESS. This will be the first and last year I do this. It makes me too crazy.Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13940623529019637336noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8465887551310827456.post-58625891240103897482011-01-06T16:14:01.890-05:002011-01-06T16:14:01.890-05:00And the sad part is people won't want to chang...And the sad part is people won't want to change how things are done because "this is how we've always done it". Stuff like this makes me INSANE! I am fortunate to work at a place where the entire organization is going through something called LEAN training. We are learning how to make things leaner and more efficient. Anyone can suggest something and work on the project to get it done. We've "LEANED" so much it's incredible. We've got a long way to go, but FINALLY, someone gets that everyone in the organization should have a say in how to fix things. It's refreshing!Ginahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06506790813133923404noreply@blogger.com
